He was born December 2, 1948 in Ritchie County, WV to C. Darrell and Nancy Ellen Whaley Nutter who preceded him in death. Rick graduated from Pennsboro High School with the class of 1967 and served two years, 1968-1970, in the United States Army.
On December 19, 1970, he was joined in marriage to Sharon LaVaughn Mulvay. God blessed their union with three children who survive: Richard “Dean” Nutter of Deep Valley, Janean Oliverio (Gregg) of Bridgeport, WV and Christina Mason (Chad) of Deep Valley. His blessings continued with four grandchildren: Caden Nutter, Kyle and Brooke Mason, and Broc Oliverio; one great grandson, Lakota Nutter. Also surviving are one sister, Nancy Lee Nutter Hoalcraft (Rufus) of Mineral Wells, WV and two brothers, Darrell Nutter (Betty) of Cairo, WV and Randy Nutter of New Martinsville, WV.
Rick retired from Momentive in 2011 with 37 years as a chemical operator. After retirement, he enjoyed riding his buggy on the farm, hay harvesting and family dinners. He was a member of Arnold’s Creek Christian Church and enjoyed devoting his time to church services and projects.
Friends and family will be received at McCullough Raiguel Funeral Home, Pennsboro, WV, Thursday, March 1, 4-8 pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Arnold’s Creek Christian Church, Deep Valley, Friday, March 2, 11:00 am, led by Pastor Lemoyne Horner. Visitation one hour prior at the church. In the event of flooding concerns, the service will be at McCullough Raiguel Funeral Home, Pennsboro. Burial at Masonic Memorial Park, Crystal Lake.
